find your strength through personalized movement & mindfulness

find your flow with Intentional movement

Pilates is a mindful movement practice guided by Erin Collins, PT, MSPT, a licensed physical therapist with advanced knowledge of functional anatomy, physiology, and movement retraining.

These sessions are not physical therapy or medical treatment- they're private, restorative sessions grounded in Pilates, designed for women who value precision, presence and body awareness.

what makes pilates

at the modern physio different?

While most Pilates classes focus on giving a great workout through connected breath, alignment and core control, Erin’s sessions bring in myofascial techniques, nervous system balance, and even energetic work, all while being grounded in neuroscience and safe movement practices to bring vitality and ease back to your body.

Her insight as a PT shapes every session, guiding the flow, pace, and intention behind each movement.

Each session could include:

  • Mat or Reformer Pilates: Mindful movement for posture, stability, and strength.

  • Core Control: Activate deep stabilizing muscles safely and effectively.

  • Breathwork and Nervous System Regulation: Techniques to improve body awareness and reduce tension.

  • Movement Education: Understand how your body moves—and how to move better.

  • Optional Energetic Support: Restore calm and balance through subtle, grounding work.

“Erin is wonderful to work with on those lingering issues - like back pain! She skillfully addresses positioning, specific movements, stretches, and muscle groups to help support my body. I love the one-on-one feedback she's able to provide and gentle guidance on when and how to engage. I highly recommend Modern Physio for physical therapy & pilates - it's a whole-person experience!”

“Erin was amazing to work with for my first Pilates session. She took time to listen to past and current injuries to ensure we didn’t cause aggravation during our session. She kept giving me cues and feedback during the whole session and checking to make sure I wasn’t having pain in my problem areas. I highly recommend Erin for Pilates Physical therapy. She incorporates her knowledge and experience to give you the personalized attention you need during your session. I can’t wait to work with her again!”

Erin Collins, PT, MSPT

your functional wellness expert

Hi, I’m Erin, a female physical therapist in Columbus, OH, and the founder of The Modern Physio.

My background in orthopedic physical therapy and functional Pilates helps me guide women toward mindful movement that heals, strengthens, and restores.

I’ve seen firsthand how traditional fitness programs can overlook the body’s deeper needs, and how transformative it is when movement becomes personal, supportive, and sustainable.

In every Pilates session, I blend physical therapy informed science, intuition, and care to help you move with confidence again.

Together, we’ll build strength, stability, and resilience that support your life, not just your workouts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to have experience with Pilates?

Not at all! Every session is tailored to your body and comfort level that very day. I'll teach you everything you need to know.

How much do sessions cost and how long are they?

Private and duo Pilates sessions are designed to help you reconnect with strength, control, and flow in your body. Pricing varies depending on whether you prefer private or shared sessions and how often you’d like to attend. Since these sessions are non-clinical, they’re a wonderful complement to your therapy or wellness care. Reach out directly, and I’ll walk you through current rates and the best option for your goals.

Can Pilates help with back pain or injury recovery?

Absolutely! Pilates is especially effective for issues like back pain, poor posture, and muscle imbalances. Pilates retrains your body to move efficiently and safely. However, if you are currently experiencing pain, physical therapy is the recommended starting point.

What's the difference between a private and a duo (semi-private) session?

Private sessions are fully individualized. Duo sessions include two clients and still allow for personalized guidance within a shared setting.
